More than 37,000 yoga mats are spread out in Rajpath and the verdant lawns around India Gate for celebrating the International Yoga Day that will see the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-ji.
More than 192 countries all over the world are celebrating this event in which seems to be a global endorsement of an ancient Indian discipline.
The UN General Assembly had earlier declared June 21st as International Day of Yoga following a proposal by Modi-ji during his speech in UNGA on September 27th-2014.
The participants would include school children, NCC cadets, government officials who would perform different ‘asanas’ during the 35 minute event. Major Yoga schools participating in the event would include Sri Sri Ravishankar’s – Art of Living Foundation, Isha Foundation, B.K.S Iyengar Institute of Yoga and Patanjali International Yoga foundation and many other institutes.

SECURITY BEEFED UP IN DELHI
In view of a possible security threat, Delhi Police have provided a three-tier security blanket as special security arrangements at Rajpath in the heart of the city.
Offices in South block and North block in Delhi will be closed early on Saturday to make arrangements for the International Yoga Day at Rajpath. The offices in 47 government buildings would be closed by 13:00 hrs to make arrangements for the International Yoga Day.
